The Best Storage Organizers for Action Figures...The At Least For Now Edition.

I am not anything if not consistent. No matter how many pieces of furniture I have turned over in the house when it comes to the kids, I have always returned to the storage cube organizers (HERE and seen below). Especially, the weathered gray version sold at Target. As an FYI, they are currently on sale for 20% and I had a $20 Target Gift Card, so best believe that I purchased another for the Commodore's room since there is an IKEA piece of furniture I have been eyeing getting out of there for quite some time! Did this also include me having to get other things to store the things already in there, yes, but I just see it as something the Commodore will be using a lot more, and honestly it has been driving me nuts for a while now, so a sale and a gift card equaling the storage cube coming to $20 and I am sold. As you can see the picture was taken prior to making Danny a large bookshelf area as the small one overflowing with books is still pictured below.

The storm before the calm and how organization always looks when I am plotting out next steps:

The Commodore has tons of action figure-type toys, such as; pirates, paw patrol, dinosaurs, superheroes, young Jedi, you name it. Originally they were all thrown into a storage cube container and separated by little mini stacking baskets within the storage cube. Looked super cute and organized, but very frustrating for little hands to put back. Especially since they had to go back the way they were taken out. He ended up slowly not playing with anything because it became too frustrating for him.

THESE clear storage cubes are my absolute fave (for now lol) and are found throughout our house.

(all of the Commodore's pirate toys)

I ended up ordering THESE mesh pocket organizers. Although they feel light, they are quite sturdy, hold a lot and the zippers are super easy to open and close. I also love that they have a side handle so the Commodore can easily pull them out of the storage cubes and line them back up (or just drop them in as the case usually is).

You can kind of see how all of the paw patrol cars are just sitting in the one above and then I place them in the mesh organizers that have all the figures and their accessories. The second mesh pocket holds the Paw Patrol mini racers.

The large mesh pocket hosts the figures and the smaller pocket on the outside is the accessories (lightsabers, outfits, anything that goes with the figures).

I made each 'mesh pocket' a separate subset of figures, so when he puts them away he can easily just put one subset of toys away in each organizer. For instance, he has a storage cube for all of his action figures, so each mesh pocket is a different type of character (superheroes are in one, Jedi in another, and so forth), and a storage cube for all of his paw patrol figures, but it also houses their vehicles (as seen above) and such, there is another storage cube for anything dinosaur-related, so the mesh pocket has the dinosaur figures while the storage cube has everything else dinosaur related and yet another one for everything pirate (pirate figures in the mesh pocket and ships in the cube (as pictured above).

I originally bought THESE plastic organizers for the storage cubes and although we do love them, we ended up using them for other toys of the Commodore's instead (the mesh pocket ones fit a lot more and also fit better in the storage cube), such as; his Bluey figures, which there are a lot of and the second larger one is all of the accessories that came with things, such as the house, camper's, treehouse, etc.

I know it seems a little chaotic, but I promise they all fit nicely in there and can be put away just as easily.

The Commodore is beyond thrilled with how his toys are now kept. He can see everything that he has and what he wants to play with. He can pull out the entire cube, empty it, and not feel overwhelmed when putting anything away since the pocket organizers make it so easy and he always knows where everything is for next time. He cleans up in a snap which makes the meltdowns less and a mama who likes to watch her kiddo enjoy and play with everything....happy!

The finished product

As you can kind of see with this method (or at least if you scroll up to see the original picture) I was also able to get rid of the white rolling cart as well. It was something well used and loved and another storage item I had all over the house. However, with it constantly being rolled around, the wheels started to stick and gross things got caught in it, the Commodore was no longer able to roll it around as easily and it no longer made sense in the space. It ended up just taking up room which as I am sure you are beginning to figure out with this mad organization upheaval in the Commodore's room, is slowly driving me insane. The mesh organizers tend to go on an Amazon Deal a lot so I suggest saving it to a folder of sorts in your Amazon so that you will be notified when a deal on them happens. I bought two sets during the last lightning deal to have on hand and do not regret it one bit. I would also consider buying extra of the clear storage cube organizers as well. It is always nice to have something that works on hand, so if you end up organizing another area out of the blue (maybe this is a me thing lol), it is nice to have something at the ready to at least get you started and you can always reassess after or if you are like me within the first minute or two of planning.
